C-Suite Churn Meets Market Extremes
Consumer Cyclicals Search for Credibility
Consumer cyclical was the busiest C-suite sector, with five CEO/CFO transitions, and Peloton (PTON) showed why. The company hired Siddharth Thacker as CFO after the stock collapsed 98% from its June 2021 peak; a D-rated board with 3 CEOs in 3 years and HIGH activist risk is not buying much benefit of the doubt.
Six Flags (FUN) tapped Ash Walia as CFO, adding another finance chief at a company already carrying 3 CFOs in 3y, 2 CEOs in 3y and 8 director exits over five. Shares fell 42% in the past year while the S&P gained 28, the kind of spread that turns a routine CFO hire into a credibility test.
American Woodmark (AMWD) saw all directors and officers cease service after its merger with MasterBrand, a clean corporate ending rather than a refresh. The stock was down 17% over the past year while the S&P gained 28, and the company screened as HIGH activist risk before the deal closed.
Defensive Staples Concede the Search
Clorox (CLX) said Linda Rendle will step down as CEO and remain during the transition while the board searches for a successor. Rendle, who also sits on Visa’s board, leaves a C- rated company screening as HIGH activist risk, with shares roughly 51 points behind the S&P over the past year.
Winners Reload, Not Retrench
Vishay Precision Group (VPG) said CFO William Clancy will retire, while CEO Ziv Shoshani’s contract was sweetened with equity and cash. Shoshani has led the company since its July 2010 spin-off after senior roles at Vishay Intertechnology; the stock collapsed 55% from its Feb. 2023 peak to its 2025 trough before ripping back to a five-year high.

Role Moves To Watch
CEO Transitions
- Allogene Therapeutics (ALLO) named Zachary Roberts CEO, putting a D-rated biotech that screens as HIGH activist risk atop a stock up 108%.
- Kemper (KMPR) tapped Stephen McAnena as CEO, a reset at a D-rated insurer down 59% while the S&P gained 28.
CFO Transitions
- Braze (BRZE) named Pankaj Malik interim CFO, a thin-bench signal at a D-rated software company down 35% in a year.
- Maze Therapeutics (MAZE) shifted principal-accounting duties to CFO Misbah Tahir, whose prior IGM CFO tenure saw a 95% stock slide.
Board / Director Changes
- Kopin (KOPN) elected five directors, freshening a board with seven director exits in five years and an A- rating.
- Quanta Services (PWR) added Joseph Kim, whose Sunoco CEO run delivered a 385% return; Quanta carries an A board rating.
- Transocean (RIG) elected 11 directors and a chair, an unusually broad slate at a C-rated company screening as HIGH activist risk.
