Altria (MO) named a new CEO and CFO, Omega (OHI) doubled up too, and Wendy’s (WEN) reached its third CEO in three years — a C-suite week with 24 CEO changes and 21 CFO changes.
| Role | This Week | MTD | Last 12 Mo. | Prior 12 Mo. | YoY |

C-Suite Resets Meet Market Rebounds
Orderly Mega-Cap Handoffs
Altria (MO) turned succession into a two-seat reset, elevating Salvatore Mancuso from CFO to CEO and naming Heather Newman CFO after William Gifford retired. Mancuso has run finance since April 2020, and the stock is near a five-year high, but it collapsed 31% from its May 2022 peak before this run; this reads as an orderly handoff, not a rescue.
Philip Morris International (PM) also swapped finance chiefs, appointing Massimo Andolina as CFO while Emmanuel Babeau shifts into an advisory role through March 2027. The read is stability: PM carries an A- board rating and has compounded ahead of the S&P over five years, though its one-year return still trailed the index by about 16 points.
Multi-Seat Resets
Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) named Matthew Gourmand CEO, Neal Ballew CFO and Lucas Golem chief accounting officer while Taylor Pickett and Robert Stephenson exited. A CEO-CFO-CAO reshuffle at a $14.4B healthcare REIT is a real reset, though the stock’s 41% one-year gain gives the board air cover.
Flagstar (FLG) pushed Joseph Otting into the executive chairman and CEO seat, while Richard Raffetto and Lee Smith became co-presidents and co-COOs. The structure looks like command-and-control after churn: 2 CEOs in 3y · 2 CFOs in 3y, 15 director exits over five years, a C- board rating and HIGH activist risk.
Consumer Cyclicals Keep Replacing Chiefs
Consumer Cyclical led the week’s C-suite turnover with 8 CEO/CFO transitions. That sector heat matters because repeated CEO changes rarely signal confidence; they usually mean the operating story still has not landed.
Wendy’s (WEN) tapped Robert Wright as CEO and sent Kenneth Cook back to CFO, the third CEO change in three years. That looks like a search for the operating story, not a succession plan, with shares down 30% while the S&P gained 27 — a roughly 58-point hole.
Choice Hotels (CHH) moved Patrick Pacious out of the CEO role and put Dominic Dragisich in as interim CEO on May 20. The board has had no director exits in five years, but the stock is down 12% over one year while the S&P rose 27, about 39 points behind.
Tech Winners Rotate the Bench
VIAVI Solutions (VIAV) shifted audit-committee leadership from Donald Colvin to Joanne Solomon and added Doug Gilstrap to corporate development. Colvin, a former Caesars finance chief, hands the audit chair to Solomon, who ran finance at Maxeon, Katerra and Amkor; the stock collapsed 61% from its June 2021 peak before rebounding to a 179% five-year return.

ON Semiconductor (ON) said Simon Keeton stepped down from officer posts after running Power Solutions since 2024; he stays through Sept. 30 to support the transition. ON is not broken — shares are up 151% in a year — but the stock collapsed 68% from its July 2023 peak before ripping back, and the company screens at ELEVATED activist risk.

Role Moves To Watch
CEO Transitions
- Rogers Corp (ROG) made Ali El-Haj permanent CEO after an interim stint, with shares still down 6% over five years.
- Simon Property Group (SPG) appointed 38-year-old Eli Simon CEO and president, handing the $66.4B REIT to a next-generation operator.
CFO Transitions
- CRH (CRH) appointed 47-year-old Aylwyn Bryan CFO, its third finance chief in three years despite an A board rating.
- FedEx (FDX) named Claude Russ interim chief accounting officer as Guy Erwin resigns, a finance-bench change at a $92.8B company.
Board / Director Changes
- Upstart (UPST) added Tim Wennes and lost Jeff Huber, a D-rated company screening HIGH activist risk after a 34% one-year drop.
- Krystal Biotech (KRYS) elected Christopher Mason with 84% support, notable dissent at an A- board despite a 140% one-year gain.
