Weekly CEO & CFO Moves Update
The big news this week was Nike’s announcement that CEO John Donahoe is being replaced by Elliott Hill, a former Nike executive who retired in 2020. Hill previously served as the president of Nike’s consumer and marketplace division and is widely considered to be a strong pick based on his years at Nike, relationships across the industry, and the market which rewarded Nike with a big stock price jump on the news. Outside of Nike, there were plenty of other moves. ALT5 Sigma Corp named Peter Tassiopoulos as its new CEO, replacing Antonios Isaac, who served for 8.6 years with a -7.8% total shareholder return (TSR). Tassiopoulos brings over 30 years of experience across healthcare, finance, and technology sectors. Builders FirstSource appointed Peter M. Jackson as its new CEO, following David E. Rush’s 2-year term, during which the company saw a TSR of 74.3%. Jackson had previously held executive roles, including Chief Financial Officer at the company since 2016.
In addition, Carver Bancorp Inc. welcomed Donald Felix as CEO, replacing Craig C. Mackay, who served as interim CEO for just over a year with a -21.0% TSR. Felix brings prior experience from Citizens Financial Group and JPMorgan Chase. Fossil Group Inc. also saw a leadership change, with Franco Fogliato taking over as CEO from Jeffrey N. Boyer, whose short, 0.5-year interim term saw a TSR of 0.6%. Fogliato previously held leadership roles at Salomon and Columbia Sportswear. At Gryphon Digital Mining Inc., Steven D. Gutterman replaced Robby Sai Kit Chang as CEO after a challenging 0.6-year tenure, which saw the company’s TSR drop by 91.2%. Gutterman brings nearly three decades of experience building and leading market-changing companies.
