Shareholder Proposal Analytics Tool – How to Search

Boardroom Alpha’s Proposal Analytics search uses common “web search” syntax to help you identify proposals of interest.

The Basics

Web search syntax parses according to these rules:

  • Individual words match independently.
  • Double-quoted phrases match as a single unit.
  • The word OR (case-insensitive) specifies an “or” condition between two words or phrases.
  • A – prefix specifies to not match the following word or phrase.
  • Discards stop words, such as “a” or “the” in English

The below table gives some examples proposal queries and their results.

 

Query Notes
the climate Stop word “the” removed
climate paris The two words can appear in any order, with any number of words between
“paris climate” The words must appear together in the given order
“the climate” Stop words are removed within quotes
climate or paris Either word will match
“paris climate” or “london climate” One of the two phrases must match
paris climate or ghg Either “paris” and “climate” match, or just “ghg”
–ghg “ghg” must not match
paris –climate “paris” matches and “climate” does not
“paris climate” –“london climate” “paris climate” matches and “london climate” does not
