TODAY’S SPAC IPOs

SPAC IPO: KRAKACQUISITION CORP. (KRAQ)
Ticker: KRAQ (Units: KRAQU)
Size: $300 Million
Sponsor: KRAK Sponsor LLC (Affiliates of Kraken, Tribe Capital, and Natural Capital)

KRAKacquisition Corp. upsized its initial public offering to $300 million on January 27, 2026, and begins trading on the Nasdaq today. Originally filed at $250 million, the increased size reflects robust appetite for a vehicle backed by a “triple threat” of institutional powerhouses: Kraken, one of the world’s largest digital asset platforms; Tribe Capital, a premier data-science-driven VC firm; and Natural Capital. This launch represents one of the most significant SPAC entries into the digital asset space in recent years, signaling a strategic bridge between the DeFi ecosystem and traditional public markets.

Strategy: The SPAC is targeting high-growth businesses within the digital asset economy. Specific areas of focus include payment networks, tokenization platforms, blockchain infrastructure, and compliance solutions. The team aims to identify a target that is bridging the gap between decentralized finance (DeFi) and traditional finance (TradFi), prioritizing companies with strong regulatory alignment and organic growth potential.

Leadership Team:

  • Ravi Tanuku (CEO & Director): A co-founder and General Partner at Natural Capital with deep experience in operational scaling and investments.
  • Sahil Gupta (CFO): Leader of Strategic Initiatives at Kraken and former head of Tesla’s engineering and product operations at Tesla Finance.
  • Arjun Sethi (Director): Co-founder and Chairman of Tribe Capital and a noted expert in using data to drive venture outcomes.

Structure: 30 million units at $10.00. Each unit consists of one Class A ordinary share and one-fourth (1/4) of one redeemable warrant. The tightening of the warrant coverage (from 1/3 to 1/4 in many similar high-profile deals) highlights the sponsor’s leverage and the perceived quality of the management team. Santander acted as the sole book-runner.

SPAC IPO: SPACE ASSET ACQUISITION CORP. (SAAQ)
Ticker: SAAQ (Units: SAAQU)
Size: $200 Million
Sponsor: Space Asset Sponsor LLC

Space Asset Acquisition Corp. priced its $200 million initial public offering on January 27, 2026, and commences trading on the Nasdaq today. Based in Princeton, NJ, SAAQ enters the market as a specialized vehicle focused on the “Space 2.0” revolution. Unlike the speculative space-tech launches of the previous cycle, this team brings a heavy concentration of venture capital expertise specifically in orbital economics and defense-linked aerospace technologies.

Strategy: The company is focused on the global space economy, including technology and defense sectors. Management intends to look for targets involved in satellite-based data services, Earth observation, and secured communications—sectors that are currently benefiting from increased government spending and a shift toward commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) space hardware.

Leadership Team:

  • Raphael Roettgen (Chairman): Founder of E2MC Ventures, a dedicated space-sector VC firm. He is a recognized thought leader in space entrepreneurship and a former investment banker at JP Morgan and Deutsche Bank.
  • Peter Ort (Principal Executive Officer): A seasoned executive with a history at Goldman Sachs and experience across the “Concord” family of SPACs.
  • Jeff Tuder (CFO): An Operating Partner at Atlas Merchant Capital and a veteran of multiple successful SPAC vehicles, including Digital Asset Acquisition Corp (DAAQ).

Structure: 20 million units at $10.00. Each unit consists of one Class A ordinary share and one-third (1/3) of one redeemable warrant. Whole warrants are exercisable at $11.50 per share. BTIG, LLC acted as the sole book-running manager.
