Weekly Recap: JPM Succession Plus PLNT, CNTA, NKE Moves — June 26, 2026

JP Morgan’s succession shift will dominate the dicussion, but we also saw consumer and healthcare names making moves as laggards swapped operators while biotech winners cleaned up crowded boards.

Consumer Brands Swap Leaders As Shares Lag

Consumer Brands With Tired Narratives

Planet Fitness (PLNT) tapped Sudhanshu Priyadarshi as CFO and president, international, ending Tom Fitzgerald’s interim stint. The hire gives PLNT 3 CFOs in 3y, while the stock has collapsed 59% from its July 2025 peak and carries HIGH activist risk.

PLNT 5Y stock price

5Y max drawdown: 59.3% (peak 2025-07-21 → trough 2026-05-04)
Sudhanshu Priyadarshi has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer and President, International, effective June 25, 2026, transitioning from the role of Interim Chief Financial Officer held by Tom Fitzgerald, who will remain in an advisory role through mid-September.

Domino’s Pizza (DPZ) moved Russell Weiner to executive chair and handed the CEO seat to Joseph Jordan. That is succession, but not much comfort: shares are down 36% in the past year while the S&P gained 21, and the company screens as HIGH activist risk.

Molson Coors (TAP) named Simon Kerry interim managing director for EMEA&APAC while Philip Whitehead temporarily steps away for medical reasons. The handoff lands at a brewer running roughly 31 points behind the S&P over both one and three years.

Biotech Winners Still Rebuild

Revolution Medicines (RVMD) is the rare governance story attached to a rocket ship: Steve Kelsey will retire from R&D, move to senior adviser and then join the board. The stock collapsed 54% from its Nov. 2021 peak before ripping to a five-year high, up 444% over five years.

RVMD 5Y stock price

5Y max drawdown: 53.5% (peak 2021-11-01 → trough 2022-05-09)
On June 18, 2026, Steve Kelsey, M.D., FRCP, FRCPath, announced his retirement effective January 4, 2027, transitioning to a senior advisor role on July 1, 2026, with a prospective appointment to the Board upon retirement.

Centessa Pharmaceuticals (CNTA) is rotating the room after an even wilder ride: CEO Mario Accardi and several executives are exiting, with two directors coming in. The stock collapsed 87% from its Aug. 2021 peak before surging 453% in one year, yet the board still shows 11 director exits in 5 years.

CENTESSA PHARMACEUTICALS PLC (CNTA)Healthcare

CNTA 5Y stock price

5Y max drawdown: 86.6% (peak 2021-08-30 → trough 2022-12-26)
Several executives have exited their roles at Centessa Pharmaceutical and two new directors have been appointed.

Big-Cap Succession Splits

NIKE (NKE) tapped David Denton as CFO while Matthew Friend shifts to an advisory role before separating; Friend also sits on United Airlines’ board. This is a finance reset at a D-rated board, with shares down 31% in a year while the S&P gained 21.

JPMorgan Chase (JPM) elected Doug Petno and Troy Rohrbaugh co-presidents as Marianne Lake retires, a cleaner succession signal than most of the week produced. The $887 billion bank has run 18 points ahead of the S&P over three years, so this looks like bench management, not repair work.

Role Moves That Matter

CEO Transitions

  • Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) named Daniel Krawczyk CEO, extending a 3-CEO-in-3-years reset at a $604 million chemicals maker.
  • CVR Energy (CVI) replaced Mark Pytosh with Dane Neumann and added an interim CFO, after 8 director exits in five years.

CFO Transitions

  • SolarEdge Technologies (SEDG) saw Asaf Alperovitz step down as CFO, with the stock still down 28% over five years.
  • TPG (TPG) appointed Axel André CFO as Jack Weingart shifted roles, with shares roughly 40 points behind the S&P over one year.
  • Best Buy (BBY) will lose CFO Matt Bilunas after 6.9 years, while the company screens as HIGH activist risk.

Board / Director Changes

  • NeoGenomics (NEO) added Carolyn Starrett to a C- board that has recorded 9 director exits in five years.
  • TD SYNNEX (SNX) added Douglas Britt, who also serves on Helios Technologies and Benchmark Electronics boards, after 11 director exits in five years.
  • Illumina (ILMN) expanded its board to 10 with Daniel Skovronsky, continuing a five-year stretch with 7 director exits.

Finance Benches Look Thin

Accounting and finance seats kept wobbling at companies with longer credibility repairs ahead (SolarEdge, Best Buy, Expand Energy), where guidance resets usually start in the CFO chair.

Activist risk and board ratings are derived from Boardroom Alpha’s proprietary scoring. Activist risk is forward-looking — a quantitative estimate of likelihood of activist engagement, not a current campaign. Board ratings reflect the average tenure-quality score of focal directors. TSR and S&P 500 spreads are annualized.
