Insider Trading Weekly – Selling Continues (including 4 insiders at PTON) with an Uptick in Buying: PTON, KHC, DIS, OKTA, and More

The Sellers 

Large cap companies with most aggregate insider sells this week (Tracker link here)

CG, FB, EL, ETN, TEL, PTON, TDG, RUN, IEX, CRWD, SCHW, AVGO, MTCH, GPN, CNC, ABBV, MKTX, MRK, SQ, MPWR, LIN, DIS

There was a lot of selling this week, with 22 companies having more than $20mm in net sales. Here are the highlights from this week’s top sellers:

  • Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg was responsible for the bulk of the selling at Facebook (FB), offloading $48.5mm worth of shares. The other seller responsible for $0.1mm worth of shares was General Counsel Jennifer Newstead.
  • CEO John Foley, CFO Jill Woodworth, and directors Jon Callaghan and Pamela Thomas-Graham all sold shares at Peloton Interactive (PTON) as insiders sold over $35mm this week

In addition to the bigger sales at large cap companies, there were smaller but still significant net sales totaling $10-20mm at 14 large cap companies. 

TSLO, FLT, TYL, DELL, CI, APH, AMP, COF, PAYX, EPAM, IPG, CGNX, OKTA, SBUX
  • CEO Jeff Lawson was the lone seller at Twilio (TWLO), selling $13.6mm worth of shares.
  • Charles Race, President of Worldwide Field Operations, was the lone seller at Okta (OKTA) offloading $10.6mm worth of shares.
  • CFO Thomas Sweet sold $3.6mm of Dell Technologies (DELL) shares, while COO Jeffrey Clarke sold worth $9.3mm shares.

FBC, RETA, NTRA, PLNT, BILL, WSC, SWAV, ARW, GSHD, MORN

Insider selling was also prevalent at mid-cap companies this past week, with 10 having more than $15mm in net sales:

  • Flagstar Bancorp (FBC) directors David Matlin and Peter Schoels each sold $275.1mm worth of shares
  • ShockWave Medical (SWAV) CFO Dan Puckett sold $.8mm worth of shares in addition to director Antoine Papiernik who sold shares worth $15.4mm.
  • Director Joseph Mansueto was the lone seller at Morningstar (MORN), selling $10.3mm worth of shares

TCS, XPEL, LMAT, LZB, SYKE, SNBR, APOG, STOK, DMRC, BDTX, SNDX, CRNC, SHG, TNC, PHAT, KIDS, BOOT

 There were 17 companies with more than $1mm in net sales:

  • The standout seller was the Container Store (TCS). Directors Jonathan Sokoloff, Timothy Flynn, and John Galashan each sold around $6mm worth of shares.

The Buyers 

While not as common as selling, there was an uptick in insider buying this week.

KHC, VRTX

There were two large companies with more than $1mm in net buys:

  • Kraft Heinz Company (KHC) director Alexandre Van Damme bought $420.7mm worth of shares.
  • Vertex Pharmaceuticals (VRTX) director Bruce Sachs bought $3.3mm worth of shares.

CMCT, CWH, LGF, AAT
  • The standout is CIM Commercial Trust Corporation (CMCT), where directors Richard Ressler, Shaul Kuba, and Shemesh Avraham each bought $2.4mm worth of shares.

UEPS
  • The only company with more than $1mm in net buys was Net 1 UEPS Technologies (UEPS), where director Anthony Ball bought $1.8mm worth of shares.
